To continue our commitment to outdoor learning and education, we’re proud to announce we will be holding an Teachers' Outdoor Learning Conference in Sussex to encourage more schools and teachers across the country to take a step outside.

  • When - Friday, 4 November 2016, 08:00 to 14:00
The conference will offer a fantastic insight into the world of outdoor education, giving you a great opportunity to connect your students with wildlife and nature whilst furthering their education and awareness for the outdoors.  The conference will include:
  • Learning about the many benefits of nature play and outdoor learning.
  • Exploring how nature play and outdoor learning can be used to achieve EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2 Curriculum outcomes.
  • Learning how outdoor learning can demonstrate best practice to Ofsted.
  • Investing how to develop your own creative curriculum with your school team.
  • Find out how to use your school grounds effectively.
 There will be a range of exciting workshops to get involved with. Options include practical and theoretical choices designed to enable you to implement an outdoor learning programme.
  • How Outdoor Learning Can Acheive Curriculum Demands and Demonstrate Best Practice to Ofsted Sam Lovegrove, Outdoor Education Consultant, Muddy Puddles
  • Meet a tree - A Practical Workshop Exploring Tree Sizes, Using Nature for Maths and Expanding Vocabulary Sussex Wildlife Trust Education Team
  • Char cloth and fire - Comparison, Classifcation and Cause and Effect Sussex Wildlife Trust Education Team
  • Poo, tracks and trails - Identify and Compare Common British Wildlife, Looking at Habitats and Food Chains Sussex Wildlife Trust Education Team
Helen Martin, Headteacher of Graffham Infant and Duncton Junior Schools will deliver a fascinating key note speech on how she has integrated Forest School and Outdoor Learning into a creative curriculum. She will talk about how these experiences have shaped her schools and give children memorable and transferable learning opportunities. If you’re a teacher, school or nursey looking to take your first step into outdoor learning, or an education enthusiast wanting to gain more knowledge, join us for this truly insightful experience.
