Visit The Canal For Empty Classroom Day

Canal & River Explorers is the education team of the Canal & River Trust. Along with Muddy Puddles, we are also proud supporters of Empty Classroom Day – a day to celebrate outdoor learning in schools. By leading school trips to key waterside destinations across the UK, we regularly see the benefits of learning outside the classroom. It’s all very well us telling you about it, but seeing it for yourself is much more fun. We’ve made a photo diary of what we get up to on a daily basis. Enjoy!

Eco days at Goytre Wharf (Brecon Beacons) Eco committees from local primary schools having fun testing the water resistance of different shaped boats and enjoying a solar powered boat trip themselves.  Girlguiding Challenge Badge Rainbows playing traditional boating games along the towpath, in order to achieve our special Canal & River Challenge Badge.  Canoeing along the Leeds & Liverpool Canal Local school children celebrating the bicentenary anniversary of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal by canoeing their way through Bootle, Liverpool.  Water Safety Assembly Teaching children to be SAFE (Stay Away From the Edge) near water and showing them how to deal with a water safety emergency.
