
Our Top Tips for London Tree Week!
London Tree Week is a great opportunity for some light outdoor family fun, inspired by all things outdoors we thought we would share the top family events taking place throughout the week. Running from the 26th of May to Saturday 5th June it coincides with the May Bank Holiday and your young explorers May Half term break! Ah what perfect timing... Tree Week kicks off with the London Tree and Woodland Awards, recognising some of the key members and organisations in London who have ensured the safety and the conservation of our great green places across the city. No really, London isn’t just buildings and buses… Bloomsbury Squares tree walk - 28th May We recommend you start London Tree Week with the Bloomsbury Square tree walk, taking place from 11am-12-noon, this is a lovely chance to see and explore some unusual tress whilst being escorted around Bloomsbury Squares and Gardens with Val Martin Memorial Walks. What a great morning activity to kick off your weekend! Meet by the Grange Play Centre in the London Road Car Park, Sutton, SM6 7BT. Book here. Stalking London Trees: the Fulham Palace Holm Oak – Photography Walk - 29th May Just before you tuck in your Sunday lunches, visit Fulham Palace garden to learn or practice your photograph skills! Children are welcome, so is this a brilliant opportunity to introduce to some nature which may be closer to home that they think. Be sure to bring a camera and book your place through Eventbrite where you will find full details. Beginners welcome. Tree Walk, West Ham Park - 30th May Freely learn about some awesome native trees and join friends of West Ham Park taking a trip around the park. What is better than a Bank Holiday afternoon spent outside strolling through the great outdoors? This event runs from 2.30-4.30pm, please meet at the Park Office, E7 9PU. Leaf Printing – 1st June This one is for seriously crafty kids! Explore Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park, and scavenger for leaves. Your young adventure then will have the chance to use their finds to create some awesome art. Suitable for ages 4+ cost: £3 per child. Songs in the trees – 2nd June Children can explore Walpole Park and learn about the birds that live in the trees! They’ll use the birdsong they hear to inspire them to make their own instrument. 11am-1pm for 5-7 year olds, and 2pm-4pm 7-11 year olds. Meet at the Rickyard, Walpole Park, Ealing, W5 5EQ Tall Tree Stories – 3th June Sit outside as your children listen in some super stories about trees in Brockwell Park. Some of which will be true and others not, can you guess true or false? They will also have the chance to make up their own stories too! Book your free place here. The Wooded Delights of a Triangle - 5th June Meet at entrance to Gunnersbury Triangle, Bollo Lane, Chiswick, W4 5LW. Discover the woodland delights of Gunnersbury Triangle on this guided walk by the London Wildlife Trust.
