FSA & Muddy Puddles Exclusive Partnership

We’re delighted to share some very exciting news: Muddy Puddles has formed an exclusive brand partnership with the Forest School Association (FSA), becoming their preferred children’s outdoor clothing partner.

The FSA now recommends our award-winning waterproofs to its partners — something we’re incredibly proud of. It feels like a natural partnership between two organisations that believe wholeheartedly in the same thing: children belong outdoors, whatever the weather!

Learning, playing and getting muddy

We’ve always believed that some of the very best childhood adventures happen outside. From splashing through puddles and climbing trees to discovering creepy crawlies and building dens, outdoor play gives children the freedom to explore, experiment and get gloriously muddy. Our partnership with the Forest School Association is a brilliant opportunity to champion those adventures even further. Together, we want to inspire more families to spend time outside and encourage schools and nurseries to embrace outdoor education. Because when children are given the chance to learn beyond the classroom, something rather wonderful happens. They get to experience the natural world first-hand, follow their curiosity and learn through doing. And, importantly, they can do all of this without worrying about a bit of rain!

What is Forest School?

Forest School has its roots in Scandinavia, where outdoor learning has long been an important part of childhood education. The approach has grown increasingly popular in the UK, with more schools and nurseries incorporating Forest School principles into their learning. Rather than simply taking lessons outdoors, Forest School is about giving children regular opportunities to explore nature and develop skills through hands-on experiences. A woodland can become a classroom, a playground and a place for endless discovery. Children might build a den, identify plants, make natural art, explore the seasons or learn how to safely use tools under appropriate supervision.

Why is Forest School so valuable?

One of the things we love about Forest School is the emphasis on giving children space to develop their independence. Outdoor environments naturally present children with challenges to navigate. They can learn to assess situations, make choices, solve problems and discover what they are capable of. Carefully managed opportunities for age-appropriate risk-taking can help children develop confidence, resilience and independence. There’s also plenty of room for imagination. A fallen branch can become a magic wand, a woodland clearing can turn into a secret kingdom and a pile of leaves can inspire all sorts of games. And because children are learning through experience, they’re encouraged to ask questions, try things out and learn from what happens next.

Getting outdoors in all weathers

Of course, outdoor learning doesn’t stop when the clouds roll in! That’s where the right clothing comes in. A good waterproof coat, trousers and sturdy footwear can help children stay warm, dry and comfortable, allowing them to concentrate on the important business of exploring. We’re thrilled that the FSA recommends Muddy Puddles waterproofs to its partners and that our clothing can play a small part in helping children enjoy their outdoor adventures. After all, rain shouldn’t have to mean cancelling play. Sometimes, it simply means there are even better puddles to jump in.

A little extra for FSA members

As part of our exclusive partnership, Forest School Association members can enjoy an additional 10% discount on purchases from Muddy Puddles. We hope this partnership will help even more children experience the joys of outdoor learning — from their first muddy woodland adventure to the many discoveries that come afterwards.

Here’s to more fresh air, more outdoor learning, more muddy knees and plenty more adventures in every kind of weather!
