Top 5 Dog Walks in the UK

January is Walk Your Dog Month, a great opportunity to get out in the fresh air, walk off all that festive food and drink from December, and have some fun with your four-legged family members.

We’ve put together our top 5 walks around the UK for families with dogs, with plenty of areas for energetic pups to explore.

1) Sticklebarn & The Langdales, Lake District

The Langdales is a dream location for dog walkers, with a very scenic, challenging route that begins at Sticklebarn Tavern and follows Stickle Ghyll all the way up the valley. Afterwards you can return to the tavern to warm up. There are towels to dry off muddy pooches, water bowls, treats and even a special doggy menu.

2) Wendover Woods, Buckinghamshire

Wendover Woods is perfect for dogs to explore, with over 325 hectares of woodland, 5 walking trails, plus a Gruffalo sculpture trail, and a Superworm activity trail. The woods are an exciting place to take dogs for a walk, offering a range of different smells and textures to stimulate their doggy senses.

3) Windsor Great Park, Berkshire

Windsor Great Park and Forest is a brilliant place to take dogs for a walk. The lakeside walks, wild forests and open fields offer variety of short and longer walks along good quality trails and tracks, along with plenty of opportunities for a paddle. The Virginia Water Pavilion dog terrace is a great place to stop for a hot drink, with water bowls provided for pooches.

4) Killerton, Devon

Killerton in Devon is a dog-friendly National Trust property, with acres of parkland and woods. Your four-legged friend can get plenty of exercise off the lead, and enjoy all the smells, sights and sounds of the countryside. Water bowls are provided, and there is a lovely café and play area, for a day out that the whole family will enjoy.

5) Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest, Kent

Bedgebury National Pinetum & Forest in Kent has a good network of surfaced walking trails, children's play areas, café and even a dog activity trail, so is brilliant place to take your furry friend for a day out. There are three trails, ranging from 1.2 miles to 5.6 miles so there is plenty of woodland to explore.
