8 Ways to Spend Black Friday Weekend
The colder weather is setting in and the countdown to Christmas is well and truly on. With all of today’s distractions, it’s important to prioritise family time and so we’ve put together some ideas for the Black Friday weekend, whilst making the most of the great outdoors.
Read on for some fun ideas to help plan this Black Friday weekend with the family.
1) Head to your local farmer’s market
There’s little that’s more satisfying than heading to a farmer’s market and buying some fresh, local produce and then turning it into something delicious once you’re home. If you're lucky enough to have one nearby then why not ask your little foodies to come up with a menu, head out to buy the yummy produce together and then make a tasty meal the whole family can enjoy together.
2) Visit a nearby farm
Visiting a farm is a great day out and it’s a chance for your little explorers to make friends with some farmyard favourites and meet some new ones too. Some farms even have special feeding times and places to play to make the most of your day out. Remember to bring a pair of wellies and wrap up warm.
3) Fly a kite
Up, up and away! Flying a kite is super fun and a great way to help develop hand-eye coordination, kinesthetic awareness, and gross motor skills. It’s also great for concentration and children will feel a strong sense of achievement from watching the kite soar high in the air.
4) Build a den
How about spending the weekend building your own secret hideout, perfect for a game of spies or whatever your children’s imaginations can muster up. A den can provide hours of fun for your growing explorers and is fun at all times of the year. Check out these top tips for building the best den and enjoy some happy play in the great outdoors!
5) A nature walk
Why not pick a park, garden or forest you’ve never been to before and embark on a fun nature trail with the whole family? Forestry England have a great search tool, helping you find your local forest or woodland, waiting to be explored.
6) Set up a treasure hunt
Channel your inner pirate and set up a terrific treasure hunt for the family, leaving clues and a prize at the end. Your garden is a great place for this and you can be as cryptic as you like with the clues, depending on the age of your children. Remember to give yourself plenty of time to plan and have fun!
7) Go ice skating
