Blooming snowdrops are a sign that spring is on the way - what better way to spend a day with your family than heading outdoors and looking out for snowdrops?
A carpet of snowdrops is truly a wonderful sight and one of our favourite signs of spring. We’ve rounded up the best places to see snowdrops with your children. They are springing up all over the UK at the moment and we’re sure you’ll find a place to spot them near you.

1) Hardwick Hall, Derbyshire
One of the finest Elizabethan buildings in the country, Hardwick Hall is a great place for spotting snowdrops - you can find clusters of them in the east and west corners of the South Court. Look out for the lovely white flowers beneath the yews in the gardens. Remember not to let children touch snowdrops and their bulbs as they are poisonous.

2) Welford Park, Berkshire
Welford Park is home to hundreds of thousands of beautiful snowdrops creating a stunning white carpet in the beech wood. Pop wellies on your little explorers and enjoy a walk around the woods together. Enjoy the stunning white flowers and their scent – now this is what we call a real snowdrop experience!

3) Mottisfont, Hampshire
Visit Mottisfont’s gardens offering a wonderful snowdrop display at this time of the year. 16,000 bulbs have been planted in recent years to make your visit even more special. You will spot the beautiful white gems along the river walk and beside the font stream. Look out for yellow winter aconites, hellebores and purple cyclamen on your adventure too.

4) Kingston Lacy, Dorset
Head to Kingston Lacy to enjoy the stunning swathes of snowdrops with over 40 different varieties on display. The wonderful snowdrop walk stretches through the garden and look out for more along the Lime Avenue and Lady’s Walk too.

5) Beningbrough Hall, York
Enjoy an early spring family walk at Beningbrough Hall and discover clusters of lovely white gems. There's over eight acres of formal gardens to explore and your children will love spotting beautiful snowdrops carpeting the ground. 6) Snowdrop Valley, Exmoor
Snowdrop Valley is a privately-owned valley covered in snowdrops. End your visit with a hot drink and slice of cake at the cafe, open at weekends in February. If you and your gang want to take in more of the wonderful views, there are number of walks you can join to discover the area.

7) Wallington, Northumberland
Plan a family trip to Wallington’s gardens - we’re sure you’ll come back home with lots of gorgeous photos! Thousands of snowdrops cover the area and make sure you look out for a few special varieties such as the 'Sandersii’, which have sulphur yellow markings instead of green.

8) Nymans, West Sussex
From January to March, Nymans is home to the beautiful snowdrops heralding the end of winter. The garden team planted hundreds of bulbs over recent years – now it’s time to admire a white blanket of snowdrops before they disappear.
