1) Pineapple and Chicken Skewers

Children of all ages will love these pineapple, bell pepper and chicken skewers, marinated in olive oil, soy sauce and garlic. Serve with cous cous or in a warm pitta. Serves 8. Ingredients:
  • 60ml olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 650g chicken (breast or thigh), cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 pineapple, peeled and chopped into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 red bell pepper
Method:
  • Whisk together the olive oil, garlic and soy sauce in a bowl, add the chicken to the bowl, and mix to coat with the marinade. Marinate in the fridge for 20-30 minutes.
  • Add the pineapple, peppers and chicken to the skewers, alternating as you go. Tip: try to make sure you have one piece of pineapple against each piece of chicken to keep it moist.
  • Grill the kebabs on your BBQ, and serve.

2) Halloumi Burgers

These vegetarian halloumi burgers are really simple, tasty and perfect for the whole family. Serve with homemade coleslaw or fries. Serves 4. Ingredients:

  • 4 bratwurst sausages
  • 2 onions

  • Thinly slice the onions and soften in a frying pan with a splash of olive oil.
  • Slice the brioche buns and lightly toast on the BBQ.
  • Add the sausages to the buns, top with ketchup and mayo, add a handful of grated cheese and some of the grilled onions.
  • Sit back and enjoy!

4) Homemade Coleslaw

No BBQ is complete without a delicious, creamy, homemade coleslaw. We love this recipe which uses Greek yoghurt instead of mayonnaise, and children will love helping to wash and slice the cabbage, apple, carrots and onion. Serves 6. Ingredients:
