Easter is just around the corner - it’s time for easy, speedy and gorgeous Easter crafts to make with your little ones.
Naturally dyed Easter eggs are not only pretty, but also easy to make. Instead of using shop-bought dyes, we will use natural food colouring.
You can use spices, fruit or vegetables as dye materials to colour your Easter eggs and create any colour you like. Follow our simple instructions and have lots of fun with your little artists.
1. To dye your eggs blue: You’ll need:
- A few hard-boiled eggs
- 1/2 chopped purple cabbage
- 2 tablespoons of salt
- 2 tablespoons of vinegar
Instructions: Boil the cabbage for about 30 minutes in a few cups of water (enough to cover the cabbage). After 30 minutes, remove the liquid from heat and let it cool. Pour the liquid dye through a mesh strainer into a bowl, add 2 tablespoons of salt and 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Soak the hard-boiled eggs in the liquid until the desired colour is reached. You can leave the eggs in the liquid overnight if you want the colour to be more intense. Set the eggs on a carton and let them dry.
2. To dye your eggs pink: You’ll need:
