A trip to a farm park is a wonderful day out and brilliant for children of all ages. As well as offering the chance for families to spend more time outdoors, farm parks also offer brilliant educational and sensory opportunities.

1) Pennywell Farm, Devon

Pennywell Farm, the biggest farm park in the South West, organises lots of fun activities for children, from tractor rides, pond dipping, pony pampering and many more. Visit the miniature pony and donkey paddocks and enjoy a brilliant family day out.

Opening hours: every day (9am - 4pm) until the end of October.
Price: Adult £21.95, Child £17.95, Children under 3 - free.

2) Odds Farm Park, Buckinghamshire

Odds Farm Park is perfect for children of all ages. There is lots to do, whatever the weather. Explore the brilliant Adventure Fort with your children, meet furry friends (horses, sheep, pigs and more), or drive miniature Land Rovers. There is also a café and ice cream parlour, perfect for when your little ones get hungry.

Opening hours: every day from 10am to 5.30pm (last entry 4.30pm).

3) Kentish Town City Farm, London

Situated on a four-acre site in the London Borough of Camden, Kentish Town City Farm is a community charity that helps city people connect with animals and nature. There are so many animals to see, from horses and geese to donkeys and chickens. Don't forget your wellies and a waterproof coat in case of sudden downpours.

4) Bocketts Farm, Surrey

Bocketts is an award winning, working family farm which opened in 1992. There’s a whole host of fun activities available to enjoy from farm walks, meeting a selection of furry friends (sheep, llamas, goats and more) as well as pony and tractor rides. Being a working farm, there's also plenty of baby animals to see throughout the year. Finish the day with refreshments in the Cow Shed Coffee Shop or The Old Barn Tearooms or enjoy the brilliant play area with swings, slides and adventure trails.

5) Craigies Farm, Queensferry, Scotland

6) Cantref Adventure Farm, South Wales

Cantref Farm Park is set in the heart of the gorgeous Brecon Beacons National Park. 7) Hobbledown, Surrey

With over 50 acres of outdoor fun, Hobbledown is the perfect place for a family day out. You will meet adorable camels, alpacas and other zoo and farm animals. Plus, there is plenty of outdoor space to burn off energy including a brilliant adventure playground and The Raptor Centre, home to 18 magnificent birds of prey.

8) Whitehouse Farm, Northumberland

Spread over 40 acres, Whitehouse Farm is set in the beautiful Northumberland countryside and is the perfect place for a fun family day out. They have a large array of animals from donkeys, cows, goats, reptiles and mini beasts too.

9) Finkley Down Farm, Hampshire

Opened to the public over 40 years ago, Finkley Down Farm is one of the first ever farm parks in the UK. 10) Hesketh Farm Park, North Yorkshire
